Description

This is a Request for Information (RFI), as defined in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 15.201(e). This RFI is issued in an effort to understand market availability, technical characteristics, cost, and functionality of Information Technology (IT) tools, applications, or products to support and integrate Base/campus area network transport infrastructures capable of satisfying the life-cycle technical, functional, operational, and/or support capabilities described in this RFI. The Base Information Transport Infrastructure (BITI) Program Office, AFLCMC/HNIB, is requesting information and feedback from industry to determine what new or emerging technologies are available to implement a Base Area Network (BAN) data network. The BAN includes both wired and wireless user devices and other end-terminals. As data traffic volumes increase, the Air Force is seeking ways to reduce initial capital expenditure and operating and support costs, eliminate security vulnerabilities, improve secure data transfer and operational efficiency, reduce energy usage, and minimize environmental impacts.
