- lsj The mobile device task order scope includes the Blackberries devices and voice/data services only. The email portion of the service is supported and provided by servers at HHS that are not part of these task orders/contracts. The current HHS servers that support the Blackberry's email service utilize Blackberry Enterprise Servers (BES) software version 5 which is only compatible with Blackberry's that run Operating System (OS) Version 7. Only the 9900 series Blackberries supports this software version; which is the device used/owned by CMS. The 9900 services Blackberry is no longer available from the cellphone companies; however, CMS still has these devices in its inventory. At this time; the new devices provided by wireless companies are not compatible with the HHS servers because they do not run the proper software version. CMS must continue using the current Blackberries until the servers are upgraded or replaced, which will be no later than June 30th, 2016. CMS cannot yet compete this service because the blackberries offered by the vendors on vehicles such as the Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI) BPA are not compatible with BES 5 servers. This is documented in the user manuals for Blackberry.
