The National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center (NIH CC), Radiology & Imaging Sciences, intends to enter into a contract on a sole source basis, a contract to purchase instruments for use with biomedical prototypes in order to develop less invasive treatments for prostate cancer. The Clinical Center (CC) plans to procure, on a sole source basis, to Arcitrax Inc. suite 207A, 517 Wellington Sreet W, Toronto, Ontario M5V 1G3. The purpose of this purchase is the development of novel nonsurgical ways to treat prostate cancer. We request acquisition of unique prototypes to be tested in first in human clinical trials to treat prostate cancer with less invasive laser ablation. To do so multiple instruments are required that are commercially unavailable. Instrument Descriptions as follows: (3) Non-MR compatible prototype individualized needle template for planned needle trajectory (10) Prototype tracked Foley Catheter, single sensor 5 DOF sensor (10) Prototype tracked Foley Catheter, single sensor 6 DOF sensor (10) Prototype tracked Foley Catheter, four sensor with four 5 DOF sensor guidewire 0.035 diameter x 1.8 m with 40 degree bend on tip. Taper on last 25mm, bendat approximately 25mm. Polyurethane coating, hydrophilic coating on top of polyurethane with integrated 5 DOF sensor near tip. Socket for Guidewire included with one Redel plug. Equipped with sensor coil compatible with Aurora EM positioning system (1) Prototype prostate phantom (plastic) for testing Foley catheter registration strategies. Based on MRI of real prostate. Compatible with Aurora EM positioning system. (10) Prototype restraining needle no sensors. Nitinol/Stainless steel 18G with self-deploying nitinol hook similar to Homer style needle. Non-MR Compatible. (10) Prototype restraining needle with 5 DOF Aurora position sensor. Nitinol/Stainless steel 18G with self-deploying nitinol hook similar to Homer style needle. Sensor housed at end of non-deployed portion of Nitinol needle. Non MR Compatible. Equipped with sensor coil compatible with Aurora EM positioning system. (10) Prototype restraining needle with 6 DOF Aurora position sensor. Nitinol/Stainless steel 18G with self-deploying nitinol hook similar to Homer style needle. Sensor housed at end of non-deployed portion of Nitinol needle. Non MR Compatible. Sensor coil compatible with Aurora EM positioning system (4) Non-MR compatible prototype version of perineal grid to adapt to Visualase mounting system and compatible with Visualase/medtronic introducer Version containing 13x13 holes (5mm spacing) and 17x17 holes (4mm spacing). Compatible with Aurora EM positioning system. (20) Prototype fiber optic temperature sensor added during manufacture to any of RN-001, RN-002 or RN-003 at client's request (10) Prototype tracked removable insert for Foley Catheter, 4 sensor version with four 5DOF sensors. Two Redel Plugs. Compatible with Bard Foley Catheter 70518L LUBRI-SIL®, 3-Way catheter. Equipped with sensor coils compatible with Aurora EM positioning system (1) Fiber optic signaling processing unit This acquisition will be processed under fAR Part 12-Acquistion for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) and 13.501-(a)(1) to use simplified procedures for commercial acquisitions.
