- Description
- The US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) - Vicksburg, MS intends to issue a sole source award utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Global Biologics for genetic library construction services. Global Biologics is the only source that can provide these services that can meet the full extent of the requirement which include the touchless total preparation (TTP) system that uses methodology protected under a pending patent which reduces downstream variability during genetic library constructions. The use of the Global Biologics pending patent processes will virtually eliminate downstream variation and will provide valid data that can be used to accurately determine genomic effects from chemical stressors. Using other genomic library preparation and sequencing services will result in downstream variation of data because of manual techniques used during library preparation. These variations in data can cause invalid results in downstream processing which could lead to under or over reporting of genomic effects due to chemical stressors. The service provider must utilize touchless robotic sample preparation methods and the sequencing shall be performed using an Illumina HiSeq instrument. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System Code (NAICS) code that this work falls under is 541712 Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Biotechnology), with a size standard of 500. This notice of intent is for information purposes only. All sources eligible to provide these services must respond in writing. Responses must be supported with clear and convincing evidence to clearly articulate the ability to provide these services as outlined above. A request for documentation will not be considered as an affirmative response. If no responses are received, within 5 calendar days after publication of this notice, to the effect that comparable services are available, and that it is more advantageous to the Government than obtaining this product through a sole-source contract, then a sole source acquisition award will be made.
