Description
DoD and NASA Johnson Space Center Needs Statement Mod 1 DoD and NASA Johnson Space Center Needs Synopsis Mod 1 DoD and NASA Johnson Space Center Needs Statement The Department of Defense, Rapid Reaction Technology (RRTO) Innovation Outreach Program and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center will conduct a Solutions Meeting at Houston, TX in October 2015. The Solutions Meeting provides selected innovative companies with an opportunity to make short technical presentations to government representatives about their technologies and products. There is potential that companies may be selected for pilot projects or experimentation if their technology appears to match the needs described below. The Department of Defense and NASA Johnson Space Center are looking for innovative technologies and capabilities in the following topic areas: Point of Care Medical Diagnostics - Metabolic, blood gases, cardiac, liver/renal panels - Hematology and urinalysis - Non-invasive intracranial pressure sensors - Bio-integrated electronics (e.g. biochips, lab-on-chip) Sensors and Electronics - Small, modular electronics - Personal sensors and wearables - Autonomous positioning and navigation in non-GPS environments - High resolution medical imaging - Continuous biomedical monitoring - IR signaling and location beacons - Non-pyrotechnic signaling - Advanced EO/IR components Environmental Sensing - Improved gas chromatography/mass spectrometry - Autonomous /miniaturized atmospheric monitors for constituent gases - Real-time volatile organic compound (VOC) analysis - Anomaly detection Robotics - Autonomous navigation and control - Predictive path planning - Intuitive controls/interfaces such as voice, gesture, neural, etc. - Optical sensors and processing for improved depth perception and field of view - Bandwidth-restricted environments - Soft micro-robotics - Actuators and absolute position sensors Image Processing - Precision object tracking - Image and video enhancement - Machine vision and image stitching - Degraded visual environment including low-light/high-contrast Displays and Simulation - Modeling & simulation/test & evaluation - Software verification tools (especially for graphical displays) - Automation and algorithm optimization - Sensor interoperability - Augmented reality Data - Integration, visualization and collaboration - Security, access and privacy controls - Data set development, management and analysis - Distributed computing Advanced Materials - Novel metallics, ceramics and composites - Structural laminates that also transmit power and data - Lightweight cables and connectors Power and Energy - Micro/miniature waste to energy conversion - Small to micro-scale methane capture - Novel methods of energy storage (not lithium-ion based) - Human-powered generation/harvesting - Water recovery - High-efficiency variable speed and/or multi-stage motors Companies interested in participating in the Solutions Meeting should submit an application to RRTO Innovation via e-mail to osd.pentagon.ousd-atl.mbx.rrto-innovation@mail.mil. The following information is required in the application (Note: Only 1 application is permitted per company): 1. Email subject line "DoD-NASA Solutions Meeting Application" 2. Company name 3. Website address 4. POC, email, phone number and an alternate POC if desired 5. A succinct description (less than 100 words in length) of the company's technologies, products and capabilities including a mapping to the topic areas and needs addressed All applications must be received on or before 5:00 PM EDT, August 13, 2015. Selected companies are responsible for their travel and all other expenses associated with participation in the DoD-NASA Solutions Meeting.
