- Description
- The Defense Logistics Agency, DLA Maritime Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard Contracting Division is conducting market research for potential sources for one (1) each, replacement automated access control system in order to update/upgrade the automated access control system currently in place for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY). A brief description is as follows: The current automated access control system is becoming outdated, and can only be updated by purchasing a new system to replace the existing. The automated access control system is essential in the safety/security of NNSY employees and safeguarding of sensitive information. Failure of the automated access control system could potentially threaten national security. The AACS is used in the NNSY's controlled information areas, to ensure that only qualified individuals with the proper security clearances and a "need-to-know" can have access to the shipyards' controlled information areas. The AACS is required for ships and commands within the shipyard to enter these controlled spaces. The system includes the following upgrades/components: card readers (and their enclosures) to replace the current units located on the doors of offices within the controlled industrial area (CIA); power supplies to support these units, turnstiles to allow employees walking on foot access to the CIA, 12 amp batteries, locksets and their components (to be controlled by the card readers for access), battery backup boards, door control modules, dome cameras to monitor activity, all of the necessary cables/connectors, software to control the system, and training for NNSY employees so that they can independently maintain the system. This requirement will be competed among Software House certified dealers. The new system will require the C-Cure 9000 software and operating system and Brand Name iSTAR card readers, access control modules, and controller modules from a Software House, Inc. authorized dealer. This Notice constitutes a Request for Information only. This is not a Request for Proposal and in no way binds the Government to any contractual obligations as a result of any responses to this request, nor does it restrict the Government's acquisition approach. Vendors are urged to study the above requirements carefully before responding to this Notice. Copies of the above publications will not be provided by DLA Maritime Norfolk, but are available on the internet. Interested vendors with the proper qualifications may respond to Christopher Johns at christopher.johns@dla.mil. Please make sure that the subject line on any email states "Sources Sought - Automated Access Control System" or "Source Sought - AACS." Emails without subject indicators will not be read because of security issues. At a minimum, vendors shall provide the following information: Company name and address, CAGE code, and point of contact including telephone number and email address.
