Invitation to Provide Input toward Redevelopment Opportunities Deadline for written input: August 28, 2015 (via email) Deadline to sign up for site tour and roundtable: August 10, 2015. Please RSVP to Shahidat Abbas at shahidat.abbas@va.gov or 202-632-5955 The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Real Property Service is seeking stakeholder input toward redevelopment opportunities for a historic property located in Sausalito, California. VA is undertaking a feasibility analysis to assess options for reuse of a historic asset pursuant to Section 111 of the National Historic Preservation Act; which allows for long term outlease or exchange. VA seeks information from the real estate development community as well as national, State, tribal, and local organizations and others who may have interest in the Section 111 pilot project. PLEASE NOTE: This is strictly a feasibility study. There is no procurement activity associated with this action at this time. VA invites written input as noted above. VA also invites the developer community to provide input via a site visit and roundtable from 2-3 pm PST on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Further details will be provided to those who RSVP. BACKGROUND: Section 111 of the NHPA provides Federal agencies with the authority to lease or exchange a Federally-owned property with comparable historic property to a non-Federal party if the lease or exchange will adequately insure the preservation of the historic property. VA intends to utilize the subject authority to allow for non-Federal users to revitalize VA's historic assets to place them into productive use pursuant to exchange or long term outlease agreements. VA is presently exploring the feasibility of using a VA-owned building in Sausalito, California, as a pilot project for use of the Section 111 authority. This property is part of a Historic District and has significant historic value as well as environmental and site condition concerns. As part of VA's feasibility determination, VA seeks input from developers and the historic and governmental communities. If the Sausalito location is deemed not feasible for redevelopment, VA will continue with determining a pilot location by conducting a feasibility analysis on an alternative site option. Respondents are advised that the Government assumes no responsibility to award a contract or consider information based upon this invitation.
