- N00164-15-S-NB64 -SOURCES SOUGHT - REPAIR OF HIGH VOLTAGE TRANSFORMER & DIODE TRAY MODULE FOR USE IN ALQ-184 HIGH VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY - FSC 5965 - NAICS 335311 Issue Date: 04 AUGUST 2015 Closing Date: 20 AUGUST 2015 - 2:00 PM EDT MARKET SURVEY: The Government is seeking potential sources to fulfill a requirement for Repair of High Voltage Transformer & Diode Tray Modules. Companies with the capability and facility to provide the type of repair specified in the attached Statement of Work, as well as the experience/expertise indicated below are invited to submit information pertaining to their capability to fulfill this requirement. To be considered capable, respondents must demonstrate experience/expertise with military, airborne, high voltage, high frequency designs for ferrite core, power transformers and associated rectifiers and filters. Since this is an airborne application, size and weight are critical. The operating frequency is approximately 100 kHz to enable the transformer to be very small; output voltage is approximately 4000V but due to the small size of the transformer, voltage gradients are very high. Assembly must be impregnated /encapsulated to prevent corona discharge due to high voltage gradients at high altitude (50,000ft). There are approximately 2.2KW of power flowing through the transformer; therefore, heat transfer presents a significant design challenge. The solution must also match the stray capacitance and leakage inductance of the original design to operate properly within the system. Military airborne transformer, rectifier, and filter assembly requirements are provided here: * assembly used within a quasi-resonant full bridge DC/DC converter topology * 200 kHz switching frequency, 100kHz magnetics frequency * non-sinusoidal voltage and current waveforms * 280VDC Input (+/- 140V) * -4000VDC cathode output, 10V ripple maximum * +1800VDC collector output (wrt cathode), 30V ripple maximum * one collector full bridge rectifier (1800W) * two cathode full bridge rectifiers (200W each) * collector-cathode ripple filter * collector current monitor voltage (1V/100mA collector current) * collector voltage monitor voltage (1V/500V collector voltage) * total stored energy in output components of cathode supply is less than 1 joule * Stray capacitance and leakage inductance used with full bridge to establish quasi-resonant characteristics * Storage Temperature: -62C to +125C * Baseplate Operating temperature: -54C to +95C (30 minutes at 110C with no damage) * Air Operating temperature: -54C to +71C * Altitude: 50,000ft * Volume: ~34in^3 * Failed unit available for destructive reverse engineering * Qualification of two units after five units pass Environmental Screen Screening (ESS) * Testing performed by NSWC Crane with assembly installed in DC/DC converter. * Temperature Altitude, operating vibration, and two days humidity * Anticipated Demand: 24 to 60 per year Responses received after 20 August 2015 may not be considered in the Government's market research. Reference announcement number N00164-15-S-NB64 in all correspondence and communications. Responses to this Market Survey must address availability, budgetary cost estimate, and lead time of the solution. All interested parties are encouraged to submit company and product literature, a white paper no longer than 5 pages, and/or other pertinent information (such as, a description with performance parameters and a statement of current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, and /or identify other Government contracts with similar efforts) for the Government's consideration. Additionally, responses must include the following details: Submitter's Business Name Street Address, City, State, Zip Code Business Size CAGE Code Point of Contact (POC) POC Telephone POC Email address Announcement Number: N00164-15-S-NB64 This sources sought announcement does not constitute an Invitation for Bid (IFB) or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it is not a commitment by the Government to procure. The Government is only seeking information and industry feedback for possible future requirements.
