Description
POINT MARION LOCK AND DAM HVAC SYSTEM REPLACEMENT LANDWALL OPERATIONS BUILDING The following questions and answers are provided for information only. Offerors should consider the information in conjunction with the statement of work for this project. QUESTIONS RECEIVED: 'AHU-1' is indicated with Note 1 (existing equipment/ductwork to be demolished), but has NO cross-hatched lines. The legend shows cross-hatched lines as indicating RM, or 'Remove'. Is the intention to demolish and remove BOTH the existing heat pump AND the AHU-1? The equipment schedule on drawing MH 6005 ONLY shows specs for a new AHU-1, but no specs for a new 'Cooling Tower'. Is the item referenced as 'Cooling Tower' an Air Cooled Condensing Unit? Or is it an Evaporative Cooler? To summarize, please clarify if AHU-1 is to be demolished and replaced. Please clarify if item identified as 'heat pump is to be demolished and replaced, and if so, please provide specifications for it in Equipment Schedule. RESPONSE: AHU-1 and the outdoor cooling tower shall be removed and replaced per paragraph 1.1 and 2.2 of the Specs. Demolition of AHU-1 is shown crosshatched in the Section A side view of AHU-1 on drawing MH 3002. The intent is to remove and replace the heat pump and the air handling unit and replace with equipment that conforms to the drawings and the specs. Paragraph 2.2: quote mark The Contractor shall replace the existing HVAC system with a new cooling tower and indoor unit, and interconnecting refrigerant piping. Cooling tower unit shall conform to applicable Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards including UL 1995. Air Conditioning Unit shall be rated in accordance with AHRI 210/240. Indoor and outdoor units shall be of the same manufacturer and designed to be used together in one system. The indoor air handler shall be provide a minimum output of 150,000 BTUH using natural gas with an AFUE of 95% or greater. The new outdoor unit shall have a cooling capacity of 7.5 Tons, and have an Energy Star qualified rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 14 or greater). Refrigerant used in the new system shall be R-410A. The existing air handler is located in the mechanical room of the Operations Building, as shown. The existing electrical system is 480VAC, 60 Hz, 3 Phase service. Refrigerant piping, valves, fittings, and accessories shall be in accordance with ASHRAE 15 & 34 and ASME B31.5. quote mark Location: The work is located in the Landwall Operations building at Point Marion Lock and Dam near Dillner and Point Marion, PA in Fayette County, PA. Description of Work: The general description of the work is to furnish all equipment, labor, materials, supplies, layout of work, and supervision to construct a new HVAC system in the Operations Building located at Point Marion Lock and Dam. The work consists of the removal and replacement of the existing refrigerant (R22) outdoor cooling tower with a new 7.5 Ton outdoor unit, Energy Star rated with SEER of 14 or greater; removal of the indoor air handler unit and installation of new 150,000 BTUH natural gas fired air handler with AFUE of 95% or greater; new ductwork; all necessary duct work to adapt new air handler unit to existing duct work; replacement of the zone and pass-by dampers; connection of condensate drain to floor drain; installation of new evaporator coil and new refrigerant lines with R-410A refrigerant; installation of new digital programmable thermostats; replacement of ceiling diffusers and replacement of supply ductwork and all electrical/electronic controls necessary to complete the installation of the system. The existing electrical system is 480VAC, 60 Hz, 3 Phase service. magnitude of Construction is between $50,000 and $100,000. Performance Period: 90 calendar days after Notice to Proceed.
