- This sources sought is a request for information for sources that can provide the requested equipment, used or new, ONLY. We are looking for equipment to be used for the demilitarization of existing D561 / D562 rounds. The equipment shall be capable of removing the sub-munitions in a manner that they will be safe to handle, but not destroy the sub-munitions. The definition of demilitarization is quote mark The act of eliminating the functional capabilities and/or inherent military design features from DOD personal property. quote mark The projectile is called an M449 anti-personnel improved conventional munition. It contains 60 M43 anti-personnel sub-munitions in 10 layers of 6 sub-munitions each. Each sub-munition is wedged shaped with 2 side quote mark wings quote mark for arming when released. At this time additional Technical Data Packages or drawings are not available.
