Description
Site Photo's Location Map Wage Rates Solicitation Amendment #2 Full Solicitation Added 08/06/15 CH10505 Shingobee Lodge Chimney Repair/Reconstruction Project Synopsis Work under this contract will involve reconstruction of one larger stone masonry chimney, and repair of a second smaller stone masonry chimney. Both chimneys are on a Historic Chalet building located near Walker, MN. In general, the reconstruction of the larger chimney will entail complete disassembly of the existing poor-condition stone masonry down to a stable inner core, followed by reconstruction using new similar materials. The reconstruction shall be done in a manner that most closely matches the methods used to construct the existing chimney, as learned through the disassembly process. The chimney cap and flashing at the roofline will also be replaced. In general, the repair of the small chimney will entail removal of all loose mortar and stones, then removal of surface mortar to a depth that will allow full repointing of the chimney. The existing stones will be reused. The entire chimney will receive new mortar to restore a uniform appearance. The chimney cap and flashing at the roofline will also be replaced. The work shall be performed in such a manner as to preserve and/or replicate the original construction to the full extent possible. The mortar mix to be used shall be coordinated with the Government. The Government will coordinate with the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office. The project site is located six miles SW of Walker along MN Hwy 34. Project range $25,000 to $100,000.
