- Description
- The Julia Butler Hansen Refuge (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) as a requirement for a muted-tide regulator (MTR) self-regulating tide gate. This is a notice of intent to go Sole Source in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, and 13.106-1 (b). Nehalem Marine Manufacturing DUNS: 103021960 24755 Miami Foley Rd Nehalem, OR, 97131 is understood to be the sole manufacturer of this design. The closing of the tide gate is regulated by the elevation of the inlet pool, as opposed to the tidal elevations. Side hinged tide gates, with muted tide regulators, will provide increased fish passage for juvenile, and adult, salmonids, and off-channel tidal habitat. MTRs are also default open, meaning they are normally in an open condition, which provides for tidal exchange, and fish passage, any time the interior water level permits it. This is obtained by providing an auxiliary source of energy to open the gate, even during times of very small, or absent, flows. This is a time-sensitive requirement, with performance beginning presently. Please direct questions, and/or comments to: Wendy Duval 503-872-2825 wendy_duval@fws.gov
