- Scope of Work for Bldg. 15-70 Steam & CR Line replacement 1)Remove existing 4" steam (HPS) and 2" condensate return (CR) lines 2)Unearth steam tunnel beneath the roadway & in grass area 3)Abate asbestos-containing (ACM) conduit IVO existing manhole nearest building 15 (approx 20 LF) to allow for routing of new HPS/CR piping. 4)Encapsulate remaining ACM conduit in steam trench using quarry dust (screenings). 5)Install new Perma-pipe ESCON-A/Ferro-shield 4" HPS and 2" CR lines (both in one conduit). 6)Route new Perma-pipe through existing ACM conduit from the existing manhole to the basement of building 15, then mortar both ends of the conduit. 7)Abate ACM in building 15 basement after routing of new steam & CR lines, then encapsulate. 8)Raise elevation of the Perma-pipe system immediately after exiting bldg. 15 to avoid conflict with the old ACM conduit. 9)Install new 4" steam valve in building 15 basement and in bldg. 70. 10)Install new 2" CR isolation valve in building 15 basement and in bldg. 70. 11)Use certified welders and pressure test system IAW Perma-pipe protocol. 12)Insulate new HPS lines where applicable. 13)Set and cover new HPS/CR system in quarry dust screenings. 14)Backfill trench with 2a modified stone beneath the roadway and with compactable fill in the grass area. 15)Protect the work site with 6' high chain link temporary construction fencing. 16)Remove/replace concrete pad, picnic table and sidewalk near bldg. 70. 17)Restore the roadway with 3" of binder course and 2" wear course of asphalt and seal the seams. 18)Restore the grass area and reseed. 19)Debris disposal IAW GEMs program requirements. Scope of Work for Bldg. 59 Steam & CR Line replacement 1)Remove temporary 2 ½" CR line from steam tunnel and install it at the south end of the lines to bldg 59. 2)Remove existing 8" HPS and 2" condensate return (CR) lines from Georgia Ave. to bldg. 59. 3)Excavate through Georgia Avenue to route new 3" CR line and terminate it into new manhole 1. 4)Leave abandoned 8" HPS line and 2" CR line beneath Georgia Ave. Cut/remove enough piping to seal the steam trench. 5)Abate ACM while removing previously mentioned steam and CR piping. 6)Encapsulate remaining piping and ACM in steam trench by filling with flowable fill. 7)Install new Perma-pipe ESCON-A/Ferro-shield 8" HPS and 4" CR lines (in separate conduits). 8)8" HPS terminates in building 59 and ties into the existing 8" HPS at the curb adjacent to the loading dock. 9)3" CR line terminates in building 59 and ties into the existing 5" CR line in new manhole 1. 10)Use certified welders and pressure test system IAW Perma-pipe protocol. 11)Install new 8" steam valve in building 59. 12)Install new 3" CR isolation valve in building 59. 13)Insulate new HPS lines. 14)Set and cover new HPS/CR system in quarry dust screenings. 15)Backfill/compact trench with 2a modified stone beneath the roadways and with compactable fill in the grass area. 16)Protect the work site with 6' high chain link temporary construction fencing. 17)Remove/replace sidewalk toward bldg. 59 and concrete adjacent to bldg. 59. 18)Restore Georgia Ave with 6" of binder course asphalt. 19)Mill and repave Georgia Ave from steam line between Bldgs 17 & 11 to west side of Bldg 15. 20)Restore bldg. 59 paved area with 3" binder course / 2" wear course and seal the seams. 21)Restore the grass area and reseed. 22)Debris disposal IAW GEMs program requirements. Scope of Work for Bldg. 18 Steam Line repair 1)Remove two mini-split condensing units from the corner of building 18. 2)Dig up steam tunnel and remove top. 3)Locate steam leak and repair by certified welder. 4)Leak test steam and condensate line going to greenhouse. 5)Install new concrete top on tunnel to match existing. 6)Backfill ditch and compact. 7)Re-seed and straw disturbed area. 8)Re-install two mini-split condensing units, pressure test, pull vacuum and test operation.
