Description
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price contract for technical training of the Nota Save inspection system on the Super Orloff Intaglio (SOI) and Intaglio-10 (I-10) presses at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's Eastern and Western Currency Facilities. The intended contractor is KBA-NotaSys, North America Inc., Avenue du Grey 55, CH-1018 Lausanne, PO Box 347, CH-1000 Lausanne 22 Switzerland. The Government intends to award a sole source purchase order utilizing a Justification for Other Than Full and Open Competition (JOFOC) in accordance with FAR Subpart 6.302-1. Training is needed to cover various techniques of inspection for the Super Orloff and Intaglio printer for the Lead Plate Printers in order to train their subordinates with topics covering but not limited to Rules for a consistent use of NotaSave III in production, explanation of inspection algorithms, statistics, windowed thread tuning, etc. The inspection detects quality drifts or printing flaws. This allows for a reduction in wasted print and increase stabilization of overall quality of the production. KBA-NotaSys is the original manufacturer of the Super Orloff Intaglio and the Intaglio 10 printers and do not have any authorized service providers. Anticipated period of performance: base year of 12 months with 4, one year option periods. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive offers/quotes/proposals. A determination not to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The solicitation will not be posted. To be considered, responses MUST be received No Later Than (NLT) 3:00pm, Easter Standard Time, August 19, 2015. Additionally, interested sources must be registered and currently active in the System for Award Management (SAM), found at https://www.sam.gov. Responses MUST be submitted within the closing date/time of publication of this notice.
