Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is a Request for Quotes (RFQ) and is 100% set aside for small businesses. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for the procurement is 339999 and the Small Business size standard is 500 employees. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Contracting Office, has a requirement for 1 Specific Gravity Complete Bench Set, 1 Hydrometer Jar Bath, 1 Automatic Mechanical Compactor, and 1 Soil Classification Set. The equipment must meet American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) C-127 and C-128 specifications. Requirements are as follows: The Specific Gravity Complete Bench Set (Humboldt model H-2713A or equivalent) must meet the following specifications: - 4537WB scale - a 20,000g x.1g readability scale with weigh-below feature - Bench that is 46 quote mark tall with a 31 quote mark x 25 quote mark platform top with a hole to accommodate a weigh-below scale feature - A crank-operated shelf that lets the water be brought up the sample - The tank has to be a 30 gallon and polyethylene which measures 18 quote mark x 18 quote mark x 18 quote mark and comes with a drain valve and overflow port - Comes with a 200-watt, durable tank heater and a circulating pump, both of which are attached to a stainless steel mounting bracket The Hydrometer Jar Bath (Humboldt model H-4239A or equivalent) must meet the following specifications: - Tank Volume: 20.5 gallons (77.6 Liters) - Dimensions: ID: 37 quote mark L x 8 quote mark W x 16 quote mark D (940 x 203 x406 mm) - Overall dimensions: 48 quote mark L x 11 quote mark W x 19 quote mark D (1220 x 280 x483 mm) - Shipping wt. 47 lbs. (21.4kg) - Designed to provide a 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) ambient temperature throughout the unit by using a microprocessor-based temperature control with integral heater and chiller - The processor should provide a consistent bath temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) accurate to within 0.1% of input span - or + 1 degree Fahrenheit - Temperature range can be set between 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) and 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 degrees Celsius). - The water bath is fully-insulated and includes a circulating pump - Accommodates 8 hydrometer jars at a time - Includes a stainless steel shelf, which supports specimens while allowing 2 quote mark of free circulating water above and below specimens. The Automatic Mechanical Compactor (Humboldt model H-4169 or equivalent) must meet the following specifications: - Overall dimensions: 56 quote mark H x 16-1/2 quote mark W x 30 quote mark D (1422 x 419 x 762mm). - Max. Height in operation: 66 quote mark (1677mm). - Complies with ASTM D558, D559, D560, D698, D1557; AASHTO T99, T134, T135, T180. - Shipping wt. 432 lbs. (196.0kg) - Automatically compacts and rotates the mold after each blow while keeping track of the number of hammer blows and shutting off once a preset number of blows is reached - The start/stop function of the compactor should be independent of the counter - The unit shall be able to perform standard and modified compaction tests using a 5.5 lb. hammer with 12 quote mark height of drop for soil thickness in the mold during compaction. - Hammer weight is concentrated at the foot, allowing free fall of the hammer - Hammer changes are made from in front of the compactor - Included with the compactor are: (1) 5.5 lb (2.5kg) hammer; (1) 10 lb. (4.5kg) pie-shaped hammer; (1) hammer surcharge weight to convert hammers to 10lb (4.5kg); (1) hammer safety device; (1) 4 quote mark (102mm) mold, and (1) 6 quote mark (152mm) mold. The Soil Classification Set (Gilson model HM-97 or equivalent) must meet the following specifications: - Provides a full range of gauges, charts, and instruments for field evaluation and classification of various soil characteristics. - Carrying case contains tools visual classification, particle size estimation, and for estimating shear strength, density, and bearing capacity.
