Description
This is NOT a request for bids, quotes, or proposals. This is a sources sought announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information for qualified businesses. Interested parties of any size may submit a response to this notice. Description: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) in Washington, DC and Ft. Worth, TX prints United States currency trusted worldwide. As part of this mission, the BEP has an interest in measuring the drying time for inks. The BEP requests information on automated equipment and methods to measure the drying time of Intaglio, Offset and Letterpress inks. The ideal system will: •Require minimum intervention of the operator •Report dry time directly from instrument without additional data analysis steps •Have a reproducibility of 95% or better •Be able to measure dry time in hours (target range 24-72 hrs.) •Reduce variability by including ink film application in system •Appropriated for inks with high viscosity (5-60 Pa·s) INTERESTED PARTIES SHALL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATIN IN THEIR RESPONSE: 1.Company name, address, phone number, primary contact(s), e-mail address, ALL applicable NAICS code(s), business size (i.e., small/large), company's socioeconomics (i.e., woman-owned, HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, etc.) and DUNS Number. 2.A detailed capability statement to include equipment functions, methods, specifications, features, warranties, available options, and estimated cost. 3.Interested parties may respond by providing product brochures. 4.Interested parties shall indicate if they are a manufacturer, distributor, or reseller of the product. 5.A statement that addresses whether or not the equipment is in compliance with the Buy American Act. Please identify place of manufacture. Responses shall be e-mailed to gladys.wilks@bep.gov. Telephone responses will NOT be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 4 September 2015, 5:00p.m. (EST). AT THIS TIME NO SOLICITATION EXISTS. (DO NOT REQUEST A COPY OF A SOLICITATION). A FUTURE NOTICE MAY BE POSTED IF A SOLICITATION IS RELEASED. Disclaimer and Important Notes: This notice does not obligate the Government to award a contract or otherwise pay for the information provided in response. All costs associated with responding to this Notice are solely at the responding party's expense. The Government reserves the right to use information provided by respondents for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate. Further, the Government may contact the vendor for additional information regarding the information submitted as part of this market research effort. Any organization responding to this notice should ensure that its response is complete and sufficiently detailed to allow the Government to determine the organization's qualifications to perform the work. Respondents are advised that the Government is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted. After a review of the responses received, a solicitation may be published in Federal Business Opportunities. Furthermore, responses to this notice will not be considered adequate responses if a solicitation be published. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract or agreement. The BEP will not be obligated to pursue any particular acquisition alternative as a result of this notice. Responses to the notice will not be returned. Not responding to this notice does not preclude participation in any future solicitation, if one is issued. No proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should be included in your response. The Government reserves the right to use any non-proprietary technical information in any resultant solicitation(s). If so, respondents are solely responsible for properly marking and identifying such information within their response.
