Description
DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFIARS VISN 19 Rocky Mountain Network Contracting Office 4100 East Mississippi Avenue Suite 900 Glendale, CO 80246 DETERMINATION AND FINDINGS (D&F) AUTHORITY TO USE OPTION TO EXTEND THE TERM OF THE CONTRACT Upon the basis of the following findings and determination, the proposed contract described below may be entered into using option provision pursuant to the authority of FAR 17.202 (d). FINDINGS 1.The Veterans Network Contracting Office (NCO) 19 proposes to enter into a contract containing the clause at FAR 52.217-9 "Option to Extend the Term of the Contract" for VA259-15-AP-4095, under Commercial Items Procurement Procedures, for Procurement of Scientific Ramboullient Sheep for the Salt Lake City VAMC. Annual cost is estimated to be approximately $17,000.00. 2.The basis for using option provisions is to support the requesting services anticipated need to provide adequate and continuous support for the orthopedic device study at the Salt Lake City VAMC. This type of option provision allows the contractor to offer ramboullient sheep for the base year and each successive option year. The Government will give the contractor preliminary written notice of its intent to extend the contract at least 60 days before the contract expires, however, the Government is not and will not be obligated to exercise any option years. This option provision will result in less administrative cost, better prices, and maintain continuity of services. 3.It is anticipated that this solicitation will result in a single award contract for outlying option years. DETERMINATION The use of the "Option to Extend the Term of the Contact" option provision is justified because it will reduce cost and decrease the potential cost for disrupted service.
