- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUNCEMENT The Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma is performing a market research to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources relative to NAICS code 561320 that can provide the following services: 1. The Emergency Department Officer of the Day (EOD) is responsible for all activities of the Emergency Department during the periods of 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 24 hours per day on Saturday, Sunday, and the 10 recognized federal holidays for the entire year (365 days per year or 366 days/leap year). This VAMC is a Level IV Emergency Department (ED). Major trauma care is not available. During these hours the EOD is responsible for the care of all patients in the Emergency Department. The physician provides evaluation and treatment for patients presenting to the ED in a timely manner. The VA goal is less than a six hour stay in the ED for the majority of patients. The EOD shall be expected to handle workload fluctuations on a daily basis. The EOD will be given report and hand off communication with appropriate documentation from the ED provider going off duty. 2. The Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) is responsible for all activities of the inpatient department and serve as backup coverage to the Emergency Department during any peak periods, (high workload volume), from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 24 hours per day on Saturday, Sunday, and the 10 recognized federal holidays for the entire year (365 days per year or 366 days/leap year). During these hours the physician is responsible for the care of all inpatients in the medical center including the Intensive Care Unit and backup coverage to the Emergency Department, providing consultations to nursing staff regarding medical care of patients, admits patients, responds in person or by telephone, as appropriate, to patients whose condition becomes acutely urgent or emergent, and in person to patients who experience cardiopulmonary arrest. The MOD will be given report and hand off communication with appropriate documentation of any pending admissions in the ED from the provider going off duty. 3. The Emergency Department mid-level provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) is responsible for delivering appropriate medical care per their scope of practice in the Emergency Department during the periods of 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday through Friday evenings including recognized federal holidays that occur on weekdays (hours 11:00 am - 7:00 pm). During these hours the mid-level provider is responsible for the care of patients in the Emergency Department and provides evaluation and treatment for patients presenting to the Emergency Department. At times when patient workload exceeds normal demands, these hours may be extended. 4.The Hospitalist is responsible for rounding on hospitalized Medicine patients during the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and the 10 recognized federal holidays for the entire year (365 days per year or 366 days/leap year), and any additional scheduling which is mutually agreeable to both parties. All firms responding to this request for information notice are advised that their response to this notice is not a request to be considered for a contract award or to be added to prospective bidders list to receive a copy of the solicitation.
