Description
The Applied Research Program in Physiology and Nutrition (Program) at the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Abernathy Fish Technology Center (Abernathy), 1440 Abernathy Creek Road, Longview, Washington) requires Physiology Laboratory Support (PLS) to complete a suite of required tasks, including field collection of tissue samples, preparation of tissue samples for analysis of physiological and nutritional factors, and analyzing enzyme and hormone concentrations using laboratory equipment (enzyme linked immunosorbance assays [ELISA's], absorbance spectrophotometers, plate washers, veterinary point of care devices) available at Abernathy. The Program has multiple ongoing research projects that focus on the development of novel aquaculture techniques for threatened and endangered species. This work requires specific knowledge of hatchery techniques, wild fish collection methods, and a thorough knowledge of the operation of common nutrition and physiology lab equipment. This work is scheduled to take place from September, 2015 - September, 2016, however no Abernathy employees are available to perform the obligated work. The purpose of this contract is thus to meet the obligations of Abernathy by having a contractor perform the necessary PLS work and aid in sample collection, processing, and laboratory analysis, and fish culture necessary to develop novel aquaculture techniques for threatened and endangered species. This will be a "low price technically acceptable " procurement. Evaluation Factors: 1) Individual has 2 year biology experience with lab exposure (helper assistant) 2) Can work in varied environments both in lab and in the field 3) Can work a varied work schedule (work time varies some off days) Provide no more than 4-5 past performances and technical experience.
