Description
Statement of Work HVAC Work for Building #89 USDA ARS Subtropical Horticultural Research Station Miami, Florida GENERAL : The work to be performed by this contract consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, and tools necessary to accomplish HVAC ductwork in Building #89 USDA ARS Subtropical Horticultural Research Station Miami, Florida. SCOPE OF WORK : The anticipated scope of work for the project shall include the following work requirements: After surveying ceiling areas in Building 89 to investigate a mold issue, it appears that part of the mold problem is due to condensation on the fire damper frames (both sides) that are located above the doors into each laboratory on the first floor. The second floor does not appear to be experiencing this problem. The condensation has run down the wall onto the ceiling and has promoted mold growth. The mold remediation will be performed by a mold professional under a separate contract. The duct is the cold air supply into the labs, it cools the metal fire damper frame, resulting in condensation. Attached are a number of photos to document the situation. Ruskin dampers have confirmed that it is permissible to insulate these exposed frames. Included in the solicitation is a detail showing the insulation rolled up onto the damper frame and attached to the wall. USDA ARS engineering staff has recommend this be performed by a professional insulator after the mold remediation is complete. The insulation will need to have a vapor barrier and have at least an R-6 insulation value, a qualified mechanical systems insulation contractor There is also duct area in the area of the attic area that requires either additional insulation or some other means to prevent condensation and mold accumulation. PRODUCTS : •· Products shall be installed per manufacturer's technical instructions and installation specifications. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS : The Contracting Officer shall approve all material lists prior to installation by the Contractor. APPLICABLE INSTRUCTIONS : Caution must be taken to ensure all safety work practices are adhered to while abatement work requirements are performed around the facility. Caution must be taken in all work areas at the facility to avoid physical or cosmetic damage to existing government property. Any damage to government property resulting from construction procedures shall be the responsibility of the contractor. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS : The Contractor shall be responsible for the shipment and receipt of all equipment, materials, supplies and tools and shall maintain them throughout performance. Project site shall be clean and free of debris, abatement and or clean-up materials and equipment at the completion of work. Project site shall be kept clean and orderly daily. Work methods and practices shall be accomplished in a safe manner abiding by work safety and base safety standards. Work site is subject to OSHA inspections. Work site areas shall be returned to previously existing conditions at completion of performance. ENVIRONMENTAL : The Contractor shall comply with all applicable requirements stated in the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 and shall perform all work in accordance with applicable base, local, state and Federal environmental laws and regulations, including Air Force Instructions, in effect at the time of performance of this contract. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining and complying with any required operating permits. The Contractor shall be responsible and liable for penalties, fines, or environmental damage claims that may be required or assessed by the local, state, or Federal governments as a result of the Contractors performance, or failure to perform, during the course of the contract. All materials used in the performance of this contract shall be applied in strict accordance with manufacturer's printed label instructions and all applicable standards. The use of Class I ozone-depleting substances, asbestos containing materials, and lead paints are strictly prohibited.
