Description

The purpose of this pre-solicitation modification is to answer questions received as of 8-26-2015 and correct one error with the original pre-solicitation: Questions From Contractor - The first paragraph of Item 2 states, "This project will construct an approximately 17,500 SF Inpatient Mental Health building (Mental Health plus common space) and associated exterior improvements." In the fourth paragraph of that same item, it states, " ¦accomplish the necessary renovations in a 24/7 medical environment taking into consideration demolition, dust control, infection control, and specialized facility requirements ¦" 1.Question - If this is new construction, what are the "necessary renovations in a 24/7 medical environment" referring to? "Answer/Correction - This was a typo. The sentence should read " ¦accomplish the necessary construction in a 24/7 medical environment ¦" 2.Question - Is there a presumed connection to Building 25 we are not aware of or is this only referring to how the external work is performed? "Answer - One of the design options should include a connection to B-25. External work will be adjacent to 2 operating buildings. ALL construction work will need to take the operation of these buildings into consideration during construction. Noise, dust, utilities, traffic, parking, etc. 3.Question - I'm presuming that "demolition and dust control" refers to the work associated with preparing the foundation and creating the parking, sidewalks, etc. Infection control from the external environment is an ongoing concern of any internal healthcare environment; am I correct in reading this as taking the necessary steps for infection control within the new structure, or is there another consideration I have missed? "Answer - You haven't missed anything. 4.Question - The solicitation mentions compliance with VA Sustainable Design Manual (April 2014), but the one I've found is dated May 2014. Just a typo? "Answer/Correction - The VA Sustainable Design Manual (May 2014) is available at http://www.cfm.va.gov/til/sustain.asp. This was just a typo. 5.I am looking for "the new Physical Security Directive issued on July 28, 2015," but I cannot find it. Can this be supplied? I've found the Physical Security Manual Design for Mission Critical Buildings (Jan 2015), but not the specific directive. "Answer - The PSDM was issued earlier in the year, but a Memo was issued on Jul 28th stating the design requirements. Its attached (07282015 - Physical Security Design Manual). The waivers will be granted for new design/constructions. End of pre-solicitation modification 2
