- FBO Synopsis Sole-Source The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NCIRD/ISD, 1600 Clifton Rd. Posting Date: 09/02/2015 Closing Response Date: 5:00 pm EST on 09/16/2015 NAICS Code: 325412 Period of Performance: 04/01/2015 to 06/30/2015 Solicitation Number: 2015-N-16850 (Original Award Solicitation) Contract Award Amount: $639,857,335 Contract Award Date: 04/01/2014 Contract Place of Performance: 1600 Clifton Road NE Atlanta, GA 30333 The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as cited in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). This acquisition is to purchase additional Serogroup B Menningococcal (rMenB+OMV NZ) vaccine for adults so that the vaccine can be used to vaccinate high risk individuals as recommended by CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Meningococcal disease is a life-threatening illness caused by bacteria that can infect the bloodstream (sepsis) and the lining that surrounds the brain and spinal cord (meningitis). Neisseria meningitidis is a leading cause of bacterial meningitis. The bacteria are transmitted from person to person through respiratory or throat secretions (e.g., by coughing, kissing or sharing eating utensils). Based on CDC data for 2012, about 500 total cases of meningococcal disease were reported in the U.S., of which 160 were caused by serogroup B. Meningococcal disease can be treated with antibiotics to reduce the risk of death or serious long-term problems, but even with immediate medical attention these outcomes are not always prevented. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent meningococcal disease. Responsible sources that believe they possess the expertise and capabilities identified above are encouraged to submit to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the posting date of this notice, their written capabilities statement, proposal or quotation which shall be considered by the agency for future procurement. Please forward the capability statement and/or pricing information to Michael Harwell, Contracting Specialist, Reference 200-2014-58788 00007, Centers for Disease Control, Procurement and Grants Office, ATTN: David Dombeck, MS: K14, 2920 Brandywine Road, Atlanta, GA 30341. All vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) prior to an award of a federal contract. The website is: www.sam.gov. This is a posting of a sole source award to Pfizer, Inc. and is not a request for competition. PGO POC: David Dombecl vwj8@cdc.gov 770-488-2695
