Description

Cleveland VAHCS Research Department requires the purchase of Thermo Fischer Lab Equipment (Brand Name or Equal) to be used for a VA funded research project in which the major objective is to understand the preemptive role of luteolin in suppression of prostate cancer by targeting histone methyltransferase enzyme EZH2, which is responsible for epigenetically silencing number of tumor suppressor genes. For specific equipment, please see below. This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (large business, small business, 8(a), SDVOSB, etc.), relative to NAICS code 334516 (size standard of 500). Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Based on responses to this synopsis, the Government may issue this RFQ as a Brand Name or Equal requirement in accordance with VAAR Clause 852.211-73 on eBuy or Fed Biz Ops. Estimated Performance Period: 90 Days ARO Type of Contract: Firm Fixed Price This notice is not a request for competitive proposals, however; any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Friday, September 11, 2015, 4:00 PM, EST. No telephone responses will be accepted. This notice is to assist the Government in determining sources only. A solicitation is not currently available. If a solicitation is issued, all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this announcement. The vendor must be able to supply instrumentation to meet the following specifications and salient features: ND2000PMO Thermo Fischer Nanodrop (Brand Name or Equal) Nanodrop is a sensitive instrument required for measuring the concentration of DNA and RNA. In the VA funded project our major objective is to understand the preemptive role of luteolin in suppression of prostate cancer by targeting histone methyltransferase enzyme EZH2, which is responsible for epigenetically silencing number of tumor suppressor genes. The epigenetic assays require wide use of nucleic acids. DNA and RNA extractions are very tedious and laborious process and yield comes in very small quantities. This limits the use of a regular spectrophotometer for measurement as it requires larger volumes of DNA or RNA. Quantification by nanodrop can be achieved using 1 µl of DNA/RNA in less than 15 seconds. "Microvolume UV - Vis spectrophotometer designed specifically for the life science market. Analyze samples as small as 0.5 µL "Nanodrop - facilitates the measurement of DNA or RNA from a concentration of 0.4 -150000 nanograms/ µL. The spectral data could also provide the purity of the sample which is very important for running experiments. The equipment does not require any specific sample preparation or standardization.
