- DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) requires the genome scan all of the CNV-positive samples at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The Child Psychiatry Branch has worked with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to screen five selected CNVs (NRXN1, Myt1L, 15q13, 16p11 and 22q11). The pediatric population was recruited at the CHOP to further characterize the clinical status, cognition, and anatomic and functional brain characteristics of children and adolescents who are carriers of these CNVs. This laboratory testing service is required to detect any other additional copy number variations (CNV) for the preselected CNV positive subjects through the whole genome microarray array. Additional CNV information may give better understanding how large and rare CNVs contribute some clinical phenotypes. Illumina OMNI 2.5M beadchips are used to investigate any additional rare large CNVs, and this additional information may give a hint to understand the roles of CNV on developing clinical phenotypes.
