Each of the UPS's have two (2) strings of backup batteries containing forty (40) batteries per string, totaling eighty (80) batteries per UPS. Between the two UPS's there is a total of 160 batteries. The scope of work for this project is to replace the second string on each UPS "80 Batteries". 1.1.0 All measurements made shall use test equipment in current calibration with traceability to NIST standards. 1.1.1 The battery enclosure must be cleaned after the old batteries are removed and then before the new batteries are installed. If battery acid has leaked into the cabinet, the acid will be removed, neutralized and the enclosure metal finish will be treated. 1.1.2 The existing cable jumpers are to be resistance tested, using a micro-ohm meter prior to installation. The measurements will be taken from each terminal post to the bare cable to measure the lug connection resistance. The readings should be less than 50 micro-ohms. If the cables do not meet this reading, new jumpers are to be installed and tested again. The resistance testing of the cable connections will be documented and provided to NEC personnel. 1.1.3 Verify inter-cell connection integrity: The resistance of all inter-cell connections should be measured and recorded using a digital low-resistance ohmmeter (DLRO). The readings must be within the manufacturer's specifications. 1.1.4 Verify proper polarity connection of cells. Verify the open circuit terminal voltage of each series connected bank of batteries. This value should be +/-480V. 1.1.5 The battery connections are to be torqued to the battery manufacturer's specifications. 1.1.6 Initial commissioning is to be performed on the new batteries. 1.1.7 Each cell voltage measured, internal ohmic test performed and negative terminal temperature test performed. This testing is to be documented and provided to NEC personnel. 1.1.8 The batteries are to be load tested after the battery has been fully charged by equalizing. 1.1.9 The NEC is to witness the battery installation and testing. 1.2 Installation: Working with NEC staff, furnish and install quantity of 80 -each Werker PN: WKHR12-100C/FR or equivalent batteries. 1.3 Disposal of Old UPS Batteries: The Bidder is responsible for the removal of the old batteries and the proper disposal of the batteries. 1.4 Work Hours: Battery installation must be performed during regular business hours, Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (excluding Holidays) by an authorized technician. 1.5 Battery Purchase: The batteries to be purchased are 80 -each Werker PN: WKHR12-100C/FR or equivalent batteries. 1.6 Battery Installation: The work performed is to be according to national electric code. Removal and disposal of existing batteries must meet all federal regulations. All work is to comply with 2012 National Electric Code.
