- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to award a single source purchase order to Aviat Networks, 5200 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, CA. The Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center (FAALC) has a requirement for the replacement of microwave communication equipment within the Block 1 system in support of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Purpose of Announcement: In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. The FAA intends to purchase microwave communication equipment and training from Aviat Networks as no other comparable equipment is compatible with the existing Block 1 microwave communication hardware. The Aviat Eclipse equipment being procured is to replace one microwave link (two hops) in a SBInet system which contains 23 microwave hops. The Aviat Eclipse system is the only known equipment that is compatible with the remaining SBInet microwave communication equipment. The proposed NAICs code for this acquisition is 334310, Audio and Video Equipment Manufacturing, with a size standard of 750 employees. This announcement is for informational purposes only, not a Solicitation/Request for Proposal. A competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement. This Notice is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has a program to assist small businesses, small businesses owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $750,000.
