- The Regional Healthcare Contracting Office - Pacific at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), Hawaii, intends to make a sole source award to Draeger Medical, Inc. for the purchase of a Draeger Babylog VN500 Elite Neonatal Ventilator. This is the only ventilator that will allow the functionality needed for TAMC to support neonatal patients that require a proximal flow sensor. No other model will meet the Government's current need. The Draeger Babylog VN500 Elite is only distributed by Draeger Medical, Inc. The statutory authority permitting this award without providing full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 1901, as cited in FAR 13.501(a)(1)(ii), which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one responsible source and no other suppliers or services will satisfy agency requirements.
