Description
Statement of Objective Description of request and Instructions. This Request for Information (RFI) is for conducting additional market research only. The information provided herein is for information only. No solicitation document exists at this time. Issuance of this notice does not constitute any obligation on the part of the United States Postal Service (USPS) to procure these items or to issue a solicitation. In addition, the USPS is under no obligation to pay for information submitted in response to this RFI, and responses to this notice cannot be accepted as offers. The contents herein are subject to change without notice. Any information that the vendor considers proprietary should be clearly marked as such. The USPS is committed to providing effective communication accommodations for its employees and applicants who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHOH) in accordance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The USPS currently provides sign language interpreting services through different methods, including in-person and video remote interpreting (VRI). However, it is also our responsibility to provide communication accommodations to non-signing employees; alternatives to in-person and VRI services if for some reason they are unavailable; or more instant communication is otherwise necessary between DHOH and hearing employees. This is where face-to-face communication devices are necessary. The type of products we would like to purchase are face-to-face communication devices used to facilitate conversations between deaf/hard of hearing (DHOH) individuals and individuals who can hear. It is necessary for the USPS to purchase these devices to ensure we are meeting the USPS's commitment to comply with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended; as well as associated Postal policy for providing communication accommodations to DHOH employees and job applicants. The expectation we have regarding the performance of the product: Hardware: - At minimum a wireless network connection product - Texting device which ensures real-time/instant communication between individuals who are DHOH and individuals who can hear. - Lightweight and/or portable. Other: - Customer support - Simple to use - Sturdy Various departments will be using the equipment from window clerks to office workers to letter carriers may use this type of product to communicate spontaneously with external or internal customers. RFI Response Format: In order to better assist in the review of submittals to this RFI, respondents are encouraged to prepare a capabilities statement that closely adheres to the following format: The document format shall be either Microsoft Word (.doc or.docx), or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) formats. Responses shall be prepared using 12 pt. font, 1 inch margins, and 8.5" by 11" paper and shall not exceed five (5) pages in length, including images, data displays, charts, graphs, and tables. Respondents are encouraged to ensure that their submittals are complete and address all items outlined within this RFI. Respondents may provide additional promotional literature in addition to their response as long as the literature conforms to the response format. Submissions in response to this RFI shall not exceed 10 pages.
