- Description
- NAVAIR intends to award a sole source contract based on FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, to Eagle Pitcher for thermal batteries that meet the requirements listed below. Key requirements are, but not limited to, the following bullet points (for more information on key requirements, refer to 639AS11129 provided with synopsis).. Size = 2 in diameter X 2.25 in Length. Voltage Output = 25VDC to 32 VDC; Load = 3.25A base load with periodic additional 2.00A pulses; Rise Time = 0.330 sec max over all environments; Life = 67.5 seconds.. Maintenance = None over life of battery.. Weight = Max 1.0 lbs.. Temperature Range =operating -65F to +185F.. Operating Acceleration Environments = in accordance with specification AMX6099.. Non-operating Acceleration Environments = in accordance with specification AMX6099.. Activation Squib EP-250-1.. Materials (Case and Headers) = Type 304 Stainless Steel. Material (Terminals) = 52 Fe/Ni alloy hot solder dipped.. Safety = in accordance with MIL-STD-1385, S9310-AQ-SAF-010 and applicable electronic safety requirement of MIL-STD-454 requirement 1. Thermal Battery must pass application specific use reviewed by Government NAWCWD battery subject matter experts, NAWCWD System Safety, and the non-nuclear munitions safety board (NNMSB), as well as system level environmental qualification testing." Since the thermal battery is a critical subcomponent of an AN/DKT-89 telemeter, the thermal battery must be a form, fit, and function drop-in replacement for the current battery supplied by Eagle Picher (Part Number EAP-12258A) as detailed in source control drawing 639AS11129.
