- This is NOT a request for bids, quotes, or proposals. This is a sources sought announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information for qualified businesses. Interested parties of any size may submit a response to this notice. Description: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is interested in contracting printing services that will provide a C old foil application, capable of five (5) color offset printing, multiple spot coating application units for UV coatings, with an inter deck UV curing system, a magnetic cylinder rotary emboss/deboss inline capabilities, inline rotary die cutting capabilities. The contracting services shall be capable of applying a UV curable coating over an embossed image then curing or emboss an image into a cured UV coated location in a single pass. The contracted services shall provide pre-press services to create a layout for the cold foil positioning, coating, embossing, and die cutting plates made from BEP supplied images. The contracted services will also be capable of providing the cold foil layout, coating, embossing and die cutting plates that will register to pre-printed sheets provided by the BEP. The sheets are printed on non-woven fabric banknote substrate that is plain sized. The printing press shall be capable of printing at speeds of 8,500 - 10,000 sheets per hour for up to an eight hour period with minimal interruptions. The contractor must provide press time to accommodate a schedule to print from 20,000 sheets to 300,000 sheets per print trial request. Contractor shall have the capability to accommodate print trials within four weeks after receiving all the BEP provided materials. The press shall be configured to provide the option to spot coat UV cure then emboss or the option to emboss then spot coat and UV cure on a single pass through the press. The press shall have the capability of embossing an image to BEP specified heights up to 160 microns and register to the spot coated images or cold foil images provided by the BEP. The press shall be capable of supporting a sheet size of 26" wide x 23" long and a print area of 25.5"wide x 22" long. *Optional press capability of supporting a sheet size of 32.5" wide x 27.5" long and print area of 32" wide x 26.5" long. *This is a nice to have paper size option, but not required. INTERESTED PARTIES SHALL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN THEIR RESPONSE: 1.Company name, address, phone number, primary contact(s), e-mail address, ALL applicable NAICS code(s), business size (i.e., small/large), company's socioeconomics (i.e., woman-owned, HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, etc.) and DUNS Number. 2.A detailed capability statement of the services and the equipment involved in meeting the Government's need. 3.Estimated hourly rates for use of services and equipment. Responses shall be e-mailed to gladys.wilks@bep.gov. Telephone responses will NOT be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 20 October 2015, 5:00 p.m. (EST). AT THIS TIME NO SOLICITATION EXISTS. (DO NOT REQUEST A COPY OF A SOLICITATION). A FUTURE NOTICE MAY BE POSTED IF A SOLICITATION IS RELEASED. Furthermore, responses to this notice will not be considered adequate responses if a solicitation be published. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract or agreement. The BEP will not be obligated to pursue any particular acquisition alternative as a result of this notice. Responses to the notice will not be returned. Not responding to this notice does not preclude participation in any future solicitation, if one is issued. No proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should be included in your response. The Government reserves the right to use any non-proprietary technical information in any resultant solicitation(s). If so, respondents are solely responsible for properly marking and identifying such information within their response.
