Description

PNNL RFI Advanced Flood Protection Battelle Memorial Institute, Pacific Northwest Division [operating the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)] is requesting information, seeking sources, and conducting market research on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T). The DHS S&T's Advanced Flood Protection (AFP) project will support the development of flood protection solutions to be modified for use in the transportation industry specifically in subway systems, vehicular/roadway tunnels and the underground and surface-level critical infrastructure associated with these systems. DHS S&T is interested in bridging the gap from existing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products to deployment. This RFI seeks potential COTS products that require additional testing or development in order to be procured by the transportation industry for use. The goal of this project is to provide transit agencies deployable solutions to protect their infrastructure and avoid flood damage experienced during Super Storm Sandy.
