A: This RFI is for information purposes only. A definitive number of users has not been established. #2Does NASA have any preferences for hypervisor OEM providers (VMware / Citrix / Microsoft /)? A: NASA does not currently have a hypervisor OEM preference. Goddard Space Flight Centers Information Technology and Communications Directorate currently manages a wide variety of independent operating systems. Mainly CentOS 5, RedHat 6, Windows 2003, 2008R2 and 2012 R2. We run two flavors of Hypervisor Windows Hyper-V (Currently Win 2008 R2 Data Center Edition and Windows 2012 R2 Data Center Edition) as well as the RedHat Smart Virtualization suite. #3 Does NASA plan to use existing physical/virtualized servers to be used in VDI rollout, or is expectation to procure all new servers as part of the new VDI? A: A plan to procure new servers or use existing servers to host a VDI solution will depend on an assessment of the performance, cost, benefit, and risk of the VDI solution. A plan for the procurement of new servers to host a VDI solution has not been determined at this time. #4 Does NASA plan to use existing physical/virtualized storage to be used in VDI rollout, or is expectation to procure all new storage as part of the new VDI? A: A plan to procure new physical/virtualized storage or use existing storage to host a VDI solution will depend on an assessment of the performance, cost, benefit, and risk of the VDI solution. A plan for the procurement of new physical/virtualized storage to host a VDI solution has not been determined at this time. #5 Does NASA have any high end graphic applications for the VDI? A: Yes, we have high end graphics applications. Whether these applications are appropriate for VDI depends on responses to this RFI. #6 Can NASA provide breakdown of the user workloads? A: Our anticipated VDI user workload consists of three broad user segments: 1) administrative, 2) scientific and 3) engineering. #7 Would NASA support a VDI assessment? A: A VDI assessment is not included in this RFI. The Government has not committed to proceed with a solicitation. #8 How many users? A: This RFI is for information purposes only. A definitive number of users has not been established. #9What led to the decision to move away from, I presume, fat clients to VDIs? And what will it enable? A: The decision to implement a VDI capability is still being assessed. #10 How are these services currently being performed? Under contract? In-house? A: This RFI is for information purposes only. A contract does not currently exist for these services. #11 If these requirements are currently being performed under a contract, a.Who is the Contractor? b.What is the contract number? c.When does the contract expire? d.What is the current contract value? A: This RFI is for information purposes only. A contract does not currently exist for these services. #12 What is the anticipated RFP release date? A: This RFI is for information purposes only. The Government has not committed to proceed with a solicitation. #13 Is there an incumbent contractor associated with this work? If so, are you able to provide the name of the contractor and the contract #? Or, is this considered a brand new requirement? A: This RFI is for information purposes only. A contract does not currently exist for these services. The Government has not committed to proceed with a solicitation. #14What is the anticipated RFP release? Would it be in 2016? A: This RFI is for information purposes only. The Government has not committed to proceed with a solicitation. #15 The RFI within FBO indicates there is an Appendix A. I am searching and cannot seem to locate this. Is there any way you can send it over to us? A: Appendix A is listed in the RFI. A separate attachment does not exist. #16 Please confirm that the Government is requesting information for all items under SECTION 3 RESPONSES TO RFI, and not merely comments or questions by October 20th, 2015, as stated in the first paragraph of the synopsis. A: A response to the RFI was due by October 20, 2015. The RFI has been extended to October 30, 2015. #17 If a full RFI response is required, will the respondents document be page limited? If so, please advise on how many pages are allotted for the response. A: A page limit of 20 pages is designated for the respondents document. #18 How many users will NASA/GSFCs VDI support? A: This RFI is for information purposes only. A definitive number of users has not been established. #19 Has NASA defined a standard application suite? A: Yes, these standards are stated in NASA Technical Standards 2804 and 2805 and are available at https://etads.nasa.gov/dcs/current-s tandards/. #20 Can the non-standard applications be released as part of the RFI to form an approach? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #21 Has analysis been conducted on integration for non-standard applications? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #22 Does NASA GSFC have an accounting of all non-standard applications and licenses, or will they require assistance with discovery? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #23 What percentage of application are web-based? Home-grown/GOTS? Client Software? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #24 What percentage of the user population requires upgraded hardware for graphics and heavy computing? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #25 What is the available bandwidth of local and wide area networking? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #26 We understand that the I3P data center consolidation was cancelled. Based on that are there any future plans to consolidate the data centers? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #27 How many total end-users are being targeted for access to the system? What is the expected concurrency of the system? Will it be targeted for use during site closures (e.g., Weather Events)? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #28 Will there be a need to access data from or save data to peripheral devices? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #29 What non-standard peripheral devices are in use (i.e. barcode scanners, flat bed scanners, local printers, 3D printers, plotters, etc.) A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #30 Does NASA GSFC have data center redundancy or an alternate data center for critical applications/COOP? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #31 What is the distance requirement for the COOP Site? A: The above information is not relevant or applicable in responding to this RFI #32 What number of staff will be hosted at the COOP Site in an event?
