- This is PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE - The US Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN, hereinafter referred to as MVAHCS located at One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417. The NAICS code assigned to this procurement will be 621399 with a size standard of $11 million. The VA will award a firm, fixed price, commercial services contract. Contract use will be limited to Minneapolis VA Health Care System only. The solicitation will contain requirements for a six (6) - month base year with one (1) six (6) - month option to renew. Service will begin January 1, 2016 through June 30, 2016 for the base year. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued on or about October 29, 2015 and will be issued via FedBizOpps Electronic Posting System at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. The PACU staff cares for outpatients and inpatients that have had surgical procedures performed in the OR with services provided by the anesthesia department. Patients cared for in the PACU include individuals with acute surgical problems and patients requiring close observation and skilled nursing care following specialized procedures. The surgical procedures requiring PACU care include, but are not limited to: ENT, urology, orthopedics, cardiothoracic, vascular, colon-rectal, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, ophthalmology, dental, and general surgeries. The five (5) most common surgical procedures include: total knee arthroplasty; total hip arthroplasty; abdominal surgery; prostatectomy; vascular bypass surgery. The gender of the patient population cared for on the PACU is mostly men, but women veterans are also cared for on this unit. The average age of patient population is 60 years old, however, all of the following age groups are provided care: young adult (ages 18-39); middle adult (ages 40-64); and older adult (ages 65 and up).
