- Description
- SLAC seeks vendors that can provide One (1) Each of Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM) with the following minimum specifications: (1) SPM must be turnkey system with all hardware, vibration isolation and electronics necessary to run as a standalone system. SLAC will provide electrical power, cooling water and necessary process gasses. (2) Variable temperature SPM with temperature range 10-400 K with temperature control within 1 K. (3) Both sample and probe must be cooled over entire temperature range. (4) SPM cooling must be closed cycle or dry system with no liquid He requirements. (5) SPM must demonstrate superior atomic resolution on Bi2Se3 sample at factory prior to shipping and must be able to demonstrate same performance at our facility. (6) SPM must be compatible with our existing sample holder (see attached drawing). (7) SPM drift must be <= 1 Angstroms per hour for X and Y motions and <= 1 Angstroms per day along Z motion. (8) SPM noise must be < 1pm with the cryostat running. (9) SPM must have a scan range at least 2x2 micrometers at lowest temperature. (10)SPM must have simple exchange mechanism for rapid tip and sample exchanges. (11) SPM must be capable of retracting and re-approaching to the same sample position. (12) SPM chamber must be modular enough to be compatible with an existing sample handling system. Sample transfers into/out of the SPM chamber will be via magnetically coupled transfer arm. (13) SPM must be capable of producing superior AFM measurements. AFM should be add-on component of base system. (14) SPM must be capable of producing superior STS measurements. STS will be performed on Bi2Se3 at factory prior to shipping and must be able to demonstrate same performance at our facility. (15) SPM must provide at least 2 lock-in channels and provide simultaneous 1st and 2nd derivatives of current in real time. (16) Electronics must have phase synchronization for all oscillators for increased precision. (17) Electronics must operate with noise level 8nV/sqrt(Hz) or better. (18) Electronics must provide ADC and DAC analog circuity with bandwidth of 17MHz, -3 dB. (19) Electronics must provide linear regulated power supplies to ensure low noise environment. (19) Electronics must provide all electronics, computers, monitors, WIN7 or better operating system and software for turnkey performance. (20) System must be compatible with LabVIEW. (21) Company must be proven leader in the SPM arena with at least three references of working systems in the field. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE. VENDORS INTERESTED IN BEING CONSIDERED AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE SHOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS AN "INTERESTED PARTY" VIA THE FBO PORTAL. DO NOT CONTACT THE SUBCONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR.
