- OSTOMY NURSE SOURCES SOUGHT The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN-20 VA Healthcare System is requesting information related to vendors capable of providing Ostomy Nurses. The Services will be conducted at the Boise VA Medical Center in Boise Idaho. This is not a request for quotes. This is a SOURCES SOUGHT announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified businesses. The response to this announcement will assist in determining the socio-economic set aside if feasible. If an insufficient amount of small business responses are received to establish the basis for setting this action aside for other than large business participation then the action will be advertised as full and open competition, in which case, all interested parties responding shall be eligible to bid. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. The vendors are requested to respond to the requirements below and submit related supporting information/documentation. SCOPE: Personnel will work as requested for initial education/visit with patients (up to 2 hours each time) during business hours. They will work as need for additional fittings in the inpatient setting up to 3 times prior to patient discharge, and as needed in their clinic setting post-discharge. Services provided shall include but not limited to the following: Approximately 30 patients require wound and ostomy nursing services. Each patient is seen on the average three times for a total of 90 visits in one year. Boise VAMC has limited staff to provide these services. No parallel efforts to current contracts or any prior contracts, procurements, task orders, other agency activities and/or industry efforts. This work is not accomplished or ongoing through other vehicles. This contract is required to replace the contract that has expired. We also average 5-6 new patients per year needing this level of care. Contractor personnel to provide consultation regarding all aspects of ostomy care including pre-procedural counseling, marking appropriate sites for stomas, initial ostomy fittings and ongoing management of patient ostomy problems. Consultation may also include ostomy management to include but not be limited to draining wounds, sinuses and fistulas. It is anticipated that a minimum of three (3) visits for ostomy management of new enterstomal patient (pre-operative, soon post-operative for appliance placement and follow up). Additional visits will be on an as needed basis. PROOF OF PROVIDER QUALIFICATIONS: The Contractor shall provide resumes demonstrating that the intended providers fulfill the following requirements: Registered Nurses (RN) assigned by the Contractor to perform services covered by this contract shall have the qualifications shown in the following paragraphs at a minimum. The Contractor must verify RN qualifications. RNs education level of a BSN preferred but not required. License: RNs must have a current valid and unrestricted license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. Board Certification /Eligibility: Must a certified WOCN in addition to RN Technical Proficiency: RNs must have competency in the area of assignment. Continuing Medical Education (CME)/ Certified Education Unit (CEU) Requirements: Training: (ACLS/BLS/VA Mandatory) RNs provided must have a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
