- Description
- The purpose of this sources sought announcement is to find interested contractors with extensive experience in sophisticated mechanical, electrical and controls projects. Equipment such as, but not limited to UPS, In-Row-Cooling Units, large and small chillers, building automation systems and controls. Also this project will require complex commissioning plans and execution. Interested contractors shall provide specific examples of the above items when responding to this announcement. The scope of the Work includes but is not limited to re-purposing approximately 5,301SF of building 31 into a new CCR facility. The first floor demolition comprises of approximately 2,623 SF of offices and storage space. The basement demolition comprises of approximately 2,678SF of storage space. The existing code classification is Group B Occupancy and Type II-A Construction Type. The alteration will not change the Occupancy or the Construction Type. Mechanical systems work includes construction of a new bi-directional fault-tolerant chilled water distribution system teamed with in-row type chilled water cooling units situated on the raised data floor. New heat exchangers, redundant chilled water pumps, chilled water storage tanks and controls, along with a local low ambient emergency air cooled chiller will be installed to support the data center cooling needs. Electrical work includes new electrical service to Building 31 and redundant electrical distribution system for new Consolidated Computational Research facility. Systems to include new interior and exterior distribution gear, automatic transfer switches, Un-interruptable Power Supplies, transformers, power transformers, and remote power supplies. Special systems include Fire Alarm Systems, Access Control, Video Surveillance, and paging system. Task No. 2 - CHILLER PLANT MODIFICATIONS BUILDING #28: The scope of the Work includes but is not limited to replacement of a 700 ton capacity water cooled steam absorption chiller with a nominal 800 ton centrifugal chiller, replacement of a 170 ton outdoor air cooled chiller with a nominal 250 ton air cooled chiller with variable speed drive and low ambient operation features, and the addition of an outdoor dry cooler to provide free cooling capability during winter months. The improvements will allow the Building 28 chiller plant to produce chilled water all months of the year to support the continuous cooling loads posed by the CCR in Building 31. The additions and improvements will also improve plant redundancy and provide better ride-through during failures of major equipment. Electrical work to include new breakers and feeders to provide power to new equipment.
