Justification and Approval for: Other than Full and Open Competition The VA Connecticut Healthcare System (VAWH) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1 - Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements with Nalco Company for the purchase of faucet filters. These filters are used for prevention of legionella in patient faucets. Product Description Disposable water filters are used for up to 31 days to provide filtered water that is used for topical use and consumption. Each filter should provide a barrier against contaminates that are waterborne, which is beneficial in removing particles, fungi, bacteria, and protozoa. Each tilter should have a double layer sterilizing grade filtration with an integral pre-filter. Each should contain a bacteriostatic additive (99.99% for Pseudomonas aeruginosa) that minimizes any risks of inadvertent cross-contamination and retrograde contamination, especially that of legionella. This Sources Sought Notice is to allow interested parties to respond to the requirement and furnish detailed data concerning their capabilities to provide the product. Any firm that would like to provide a quote must do so by Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 12pm EST. Information should be sent to Barbara Charles, Lead Purchasing Agent at barbara.charles@va.gov.
