Description

Project Title: Upgrade Electrical Utilities, Phase 4. Project Location: Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, 1601 SW Archer Road, Gainesville, FL. Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Set-Aside. This requirement is 100% set- aside for certified Service SDVOSB firms who are visually verifiable as such in vetbiz.gov. Proposals submitted by non-verified SDVOSB firms shall be excluded from award consideration. Project Estimate: $1,000,000 - $2,000,000. The NAICS is 238210 (Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation). The estimated solicitation issuance date - December 3, 2015. General work description: Replace a portion of the existing E-Wing normal power distribution equipment. The work includes, but is not limited to: demolishing the existing medium voltage switches, substation transformers, and low voltage switchgear in room EB66-1. A new opening shall be provided in the southern wall of EB66-1 to accommodate new and future conduits from the new electrical building. The overhead drip-guard in EB66-1 shall be demolished. Loads fed from existing switchgear shall be provided with completely new feeders (raceway and conductors) extending from the new switchgear equipment to the existing loads located through-out the E-Wing. A building-mounted support structure shall be provided between the E-Wing building and new electrical building to support new conduits and piping. The existing incinerator building shall be demolished and the slab shall be prepared to accommodate the new building and equipment; the work shall include new roof, new walls, new slab, new housekeeping pads, new steps, and other items as noted on the drawings. The building shall be provided with a new HVAC system including chilled water piping, steam and condensate piping, duct work, air handler, and an exhaust fan. New electrical equipment shall include medium voltage switches, transformers with fans, low voltage switchgear, tie busway, backup battery system, and power monitoring 100% compatible with existing facility system, as well as LED lighting, low voltage panels, and other items as noted on the drawings. New MV feeders (raceway and conductors) shall be provided from existing MV switchgear in main electrical room D088-1 to the new electrical building via the existing pipe basement and room EB66-1. New electrical building shall include fire sprinkler system and fire alarm system as noted.
