- Title: Maintenance Agreement for Hitachi S-4800 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Health Effects Laboratory Division (HELD), Pathology and Physiology Research Branch (PPRB), intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc., 5960 Inglewood Drive, Suite 200, Pleasanton, CA 94588-8515 for a one-year preventative maintenance service agreement for a Hitachi S-4800 field emission scanning electron microscope. This is an advanced and complex scientific piece of equipment, in frequent use to support a number of research studies. The manufacturer of the instrument has the proprietary rights, unique background and experience with the unit, immediate replacement parts availability and maintenance/emergency service availability. This contract action is for a product for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C 2304(c) (1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. The notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
