- The U.S. Government (USG) is examining options to acquire an identification card printing system for the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) which biometrically links the identification card to the individual applying for the card. This system is intended for use in austere environments, with disconnected data entry ability; create identification cards that are difficult to duplicate/forge, low cost, and the ability to store key data on the card using industry standard formats. System must have an automated database capable of storing personnel and biometric data accessible from remote stations to validate an individual's identity and data entry. This system will be fielded in Afghanistan, used by Afghan soldiers and police, and maintained in Afghanistan. Objective/Goal The primary goal of this Market Survey is to identify potential sources for a commercially available system meeting the required capabilities stated above. Responses to this Market Survey will be utilized to help shape the procurement provisions, budget requests, and overall acquisition strategy for this requirement.
