Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in the notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is a Request for Quotes (RFQ) and is 100% set aside for small businesses. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for the procurement is 212321 and the Small Business size standard is 500 employees. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL) have ongoing physical model studies as part of the investigations performed and as such have a need for material handling for the Mud Mountain Physical Model Study. The Tasks are as follows: The contractor shall shovel, move, and mold gravel to specs during sponsor visits for the Mud Mountain physical model study. No skilled labor is required. Work includes loading gravel from a pile, moving it approximately 100 yards, and then depositing it at a location inside the model and in a shape as shown on drawing provided by researcher. Shape of gravel and number of model runs is to be determined by sponsors during each visit. An average of 8 Cubic Yards must be moved and placed within 60 minutes. Expect the 8 cubic yards to vary plus or minus 20%. Time duration remains the same. Some gravel within the model will be recovered and stockpiled for future use. We estimate that the dates of these sponsor site visits are: 4-5 Feb 2016 8-12 Feb 2016 18-19 Feb 2016 22-26 Feb 2016 18-19 Mar 2016 21-25 Mar 2016 2-6 May 2016 23-27 May 2016 These dates are subject to change. We will provide the contractor with 5-days advance notice of the actual site visits. The crew should be physically able to perform manual labor Monday through Friday, 0700 until 1730 (10 hour work days), but up to 12 hour work days (0700-1930). Contractor personnel shall provide work gloves, steel-toe waterproof shoes or boots, outerwear (coats, hats, etc.), hard hats, and safety glasses. CHL will provide shovels, wheelbarrows, buckets, and all other non-mechanical handling equipment. The duty station is ERDC, vicinity of Bldg. 7001. Period of Performance: Date of Award through 30 September 2016.
