- Description
- Request for Information Topic: Contamination Mapping Background: The Warfighter requires an ability to reduce or eliminate CBRN contamination of equipment including vehicles, aircraft, maritime vessels, fixed sites (e.g. ports, airfields, roads, C2 nodes), and other major end items and supplies with an outcome of mitigating the spread of contamination, minimize exposure, reduce hazardous waste, allow personnel to reduce MOPP levels, and return equipment and fixed sites to operational capability. An approach for accelerating this process and reducing overall logistical demand for decontamination is to rapidly identify areas of surface contamination (contamination indication) to segregate equipment for processing, focus efforts cleaning efforts on contaminated areas, and assure completeness of contamination (decon assurance). Previous efforts have developed decon assurance solutions that provide a colorimetric indication of the areas of chemical warfare agent contamination. Capability Sought: Information is being sought on technologies to automate and accelerate the decon assurance colorimetric indication process and catalog digital location information for later retrieval. Specifically, respondents shall outline their technology/capability for developing optical systems that automate the contamination indication/ decon assurance processes to: •Work in conjunction with a contamination indication/ decon assurance spray to use visible and/or hyperspectral imaging to find contaminated areas on complex 3-dimensional surfaces and digitally map the contamination for later reference and retrieval. •Scan an armored vehicle in less than 10 minutes. •Detect and map all residuals above threshold skin-contact hazards of chemical warfare agents such as HD, GD and VX. •Exclude false readings from background and other environmental contaminants. Response Instructions: Respondents shall address the information described above (and any additional information the respondent shall deem appropriate) via a Capability Statement (five-page limit) in Microsoft Word format. A rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimate for the provided solution also shall be provided. In addition, respondents shall include their name, address, CAGE code, and DUNS, and submit company size standard under the 541712 NAICS code. The information shall be submitted via e-mail to charles.a.bass10.civ@mail.mil with a cc: to brian.d.nuckols.civ@mail.mil. Hard copy submissions will not be accepted. Submissions shall be submitted by no later than 2:00 pm local Ft. Belvoir time on January 20, 2016.
