Description
Introduction: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Japan District (POJ) is performing market research for a Design-Build (DB) construction project titled: "N657 Renovate Northside Marine Mart, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan." This announcement represents a market survey that is intended for preliminary planning purposes only. This purpose of this notice is to identify sources capable of performing this project and to receive responses from those firms to assist the Government's acquisition planning. This survey does not constitute a commitment by the Government for any follow-on announcements, solicitation, or award. This is NOT a solicitation. The Government will not pay for any information provided as a result of this market survey. This market survey is intended for local sources only. Local sources are those sources physically located and licensed to conduct business in Japan. Firms interested and capable of performing this work are highly encouraged to submit a response (submission requirements are located within this notice). Information about the project: Project Title: N657 Renovate Northside Marine Mart Project Location: MCAS Iwakuni, Japan Project NAICS: 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction Project Magnitude: Between ¥100,000,000 and ¥500,000,000 Japanese YEN Project Description: This project will provide design and renovations to enlarge the existing Northside Marine Mart at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. The project scope includes renovation of approximately 7,000 sf of space within the existing building, and construction of a 2,600 sf addition to the sales floor. Work will include demolition of existing barber shop space in order to reclaim additional square footage for the Marine Mart. New construction will be required to redefine new areas for food prep, receiving, break room, administrative areas, comm room, and electrical room. The new addition will be constructed to further expand the sales floor and allow for larger, open configuration. A new barber shop will be constructed within the southeast corner of the existing building envelope. New construction will be required to create a barber shop floor area, point-of-sale counter, separate office, and associated mechanical space. New mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communications, and fire suppression will be provided in the addition. New finishes will be provided throughout the sales floor, barber shop, and other support spaces. Finishes include vinyl composition tile flooring, rubber base, new paint, and suspended acoustical tile ceiling. New light fixtures will also be provided. Electrical system will be replaced in its entirety to accommodate new operational needs and accommodate the new physical layouts. Data outlets will be provided where required and at the point-of-sale locations at the checkout counters. Existing utilities will be rerouted as needed around the new addition. Additional upgrades will be made to meet life safety and regulatory requirements. Project will include installation of Government furnished equipment items. The expected groundbreaking date for this project will be July 2017. Procurement method: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Japan District (POJ) anticipates the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for this project. Any solicitations pursued will be intended for local sources only. See information in the Introduction section of this announcement regarding local sources. ===================================================================== Submission Requirements for responses to this Market Survey: Interested firms are requested to reply with the following information: 1. Describe your firm's capability and experience relative to the work described in the Project Description. Please include a narrative demonstrating design-build experience in similar type of work. Please provide information on comparable projects (for government or commercial customers) completed in the past 6 years. 3. Describe your firm's level of interest relative to all aspects of the work. 4. Identify your current construction bonding levels: a) Per contract b) Aggregate contract bonding level 5. Any comments that will increase your level of interest and participation in this project.
