- Introduction: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Japan District (POJ) is performing market research for a Design-Build (DB) construction project titled: "N656 Renovate Crossroads Food Court, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan." This announcement represents a market survey that is intended for preliminary planning purposes only. This purpose of this notice is to identify sources capable of performing this project and to receive responses from those firms to assist the Government's acquisition planning. This survey does not constitute a commitment by the Government for any follow-on announcements, solicitation, or award. This is NOT a solicitation. The Government will not pay for any information provided as a result of this market survey. This market survey is intended for local sources only. Local sources are those sources physically located and licensed to conduct business in Japan. Firms interested and capable of performing this work are highly encouraged to submit a response (submission requirements are located within this notice). Information about the project: Project Title: N656 Renovate Crossroads Food Court Project Location: MCAS Iwakuni, Japan Project NAICS: 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction Project Magnitude: Between ¥500,000,000 and ¥1,000,000,000 Japanese YEN Project Description: This project will provide design and renovation of the existing Crossroads Food Court at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. The scope of work requires renovations of approximately 17,000 sf of space within the existing facility to create a larger open seating area, as well as enlarging and reconfiguring existing food service areas. Work will include demolition of existing walls and barriers to reclaim additional space in the food court seating area. New construction will be required to reconfigure an open seating area and relocate beverage stations to periphery of the space. New finishes will be provided throughout to include acoustical tile, pedant and accent lighting, painted walls and wainscoting, wood base, and vinyl or ceramic tile floors. In kitchen/food service areas, demolition of existing walls will be required to allow for construction of larger food service areas. Spaces will be reconfigured with increased square footage, trench floor drainage, and new built-in refrigeration. New service counters and point-of-sale stations will also be constructed. The electrical system will be replaced in its entirety to accommodate new operational needs and accommodate the new physical layouts. Additional upgrades will be made to meet life safety and regulatory requirements. This project will also include installation of Government furnished equipment items. The expected groundbreaking date for this project will be July 2017. Procurement method: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Japan District (POJ) anticipates the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for this project. Any solicitations pursued will be intended for local sources only. Please provide information on comparable projects (for government or commercial customers) completed in the past 6 years. 3.
