This sale is only for the granite slab components of the CMM and no other components or parts of the CMM as shown in the photos. Granite slabs are non-hazardous and were used by maintenance shop personnel when part of a CMM for precision measuring of Aircraft parts. Granite slabs have naturally occurring radiation. A radioactive survey of the granite slabs, dated 30 September 2015 and performed by the 72d Medical Group, is incorporated by reference. The survey indicated Items 1-3 have naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) that was below naturally occurring background levels. Item 4, the largest piece, was identified to have NORM above background levels. The RPO compared the readings for Item 4 against the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission's "dose limits for individual members of the public" at 10 CFR 20.1301. An annual exposure level was calculated by the RPO. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission regualtion 10 CFR part 20.1301 states that total dose to individual members of the publice cannot exceed 0.1 rem (1 mSv) in a year. To calculate public annual exposure, the "Assessing Exposure to Radon and Radiation from Granite Countertops" document, prepared by Environmental and Health Engineering, Inc., used conservative values of 4 hours of exposure per day, 365 days per year. To allow for direct comparison with the annual dose valuse in that document and the NRC limit, an annual public dose (mSv) was calculated below for the large slab (item 4). Annual Exposure (mSv) calculation: =(18.1microrem/hr)x(1 rem/10^6 microrem)x(1 mSV/0.1 rem)x(4 hours/day)x(365 days/year) =0.264 mSv/year The RPO found the reading for item 4 (0.264 mSv/year)to be below the annual exposure level considered harmful to the public (1 mSv/year).
