- Federal Bureau of Prisons Request for Information From: U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Central Office, Administration Division, Acquisitions Branch, National Acquisitions Section. Subject: Job Data Resource 1. Background: The Federal Bureau of Prisons (Bureau) is an agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The Bureau consists of one hundred twenty two (122) institutions, six (6) regional offices, the headquarters office in Washington, D.C., two (2) staff training centers, and twenty-six (26) residential reentry management offices located throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. It is responsible for the custody and care of approximately 200,000 federal offenders. Approximately 81 percent of these inmates are confined in Bureau-operated correctional facilities or detention centers. The remaining offenders are confined through agreements with state and local governments or through contracts with privately-operated community corrections centers, detention centers, prisons, and juvenile facilities. 2. Purpose: The Bureau is seeking information for a Job Data resource that is a computer terminal where users access a job database using touch-screen interface. The Job Data resource must only provide access to potential job listings and no other access to the internet or web browsers. The job listings to be provided must range throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. The job listings should have the potential to be customized at local sites to focus on release destinations or areas near residential reentry management facilities. The Job data resource is to assist Bureau's inmates with a successful transition to the community and view potential employment prior to release. 3. DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes - it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. This request for information does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. Further, the Bureau is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Responders are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party's expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP, if any is issued. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website. It is the responsibility of the potential offeror to monitor these sites for additional information pertaining to this requirement. 4. Description of Information Requested: • Name of company; • POC, Telephone, Address, and e-mail address; • Business size; • Amount of lead time required to deliver the equipment; • How long does it take to manufacture a job data kiosk; • What charges are associated with delivery and removal of equipment; • What is the footprint of the equipment; • What is the cost of hardware; • Would there be a reduction in cost due to scale; • How often is job listings updated and how; • Can the listings be customized; • What are the Pros and Cons of leasing or buying the job data resource; • Does the responder provide maintenance and technical support; • What are the time frames of maintenance and technical support; • Describe how user friendly is the equipment; • Describe the login requirement to monitor the number of users and all users. • Describe the options of deployment to include, at a minimum, kiosk, portable technology, and connectivity to an inmate LAN with potential to connectivity with inmate WAN. • Describe the Information Technology (IT) requirements for each of the above solutions to include: a. Operating System b. Internet requirements c. Hardware devices d. Wireless capabilities e. Network connectivity requirements and options (can the solution work without connectivity) What should be included in your response: • Do submit comments that address the Government's requirements, assumptions, conditions, or contemplated approaches. • Do submit information and suggestions that may encourage new, different or innovative approaches that would result in direct cost savings to the Government. What should not be included in your response: • Do not submit proposals or offers. • Do not submit capability statements, white papers, or other company marketing materials. • Do not submit requests to be considered for award or to be notified of a future solicitation. • Do not submit requests to be added to a mailing or distribution list. • Do not submit questions or comments not related to this RFI. • Do not respond via telephone 5.
