Pre-Bid Questions and Answers 1: Question: Do we excavate to elevation 338.49 or do we go deeper for floor & footing? Answer: Deeper for footings. 2: Question: Are we to backfill the excavation or leave an open excavation? Answer: Leave open excavation 3: Question: Is the removed rock to stay on site or be removed? Answer: Shall be removed 4: Question: Is any erosion control needed? Answer: As required by General Conditions. 5: Question: If backfilled, is a footer drain needed or stone along wall for drainage? Answer: N/A 6. Question: Is Vibration Monitoring required for this project? Answer: No 7. Question: Can working hours be extended with the Contracting Officer's approval? Answer: Yes, but no earlier than 7am, and no later than 10 pm. Building has patients that sleep overnight. 8. Question: Is the area that is to be excavated out required to be backfilled or will that be done by others? If is to be backfilled by the contractor what type of backfill method shall be used, i.e. flowable fill, structural fill, etc. Answer: It will be backfilled by others. 9.Question: If the area to be excavated is not to backfilled, are we required to leave a fence in place to protect the excavated area out? Answer: VA will provide fence. 10.Question: Will the VA provide water for dust control use? Answer: The VA can provide a hose bib to get water from. Contractor is responsible for any hoses, water containment, etc. 11.Question: Will extended work hours be permitted by the VA beyond the 8:00 am to 6:00 pm hours? Answer: Yes, see question 2's answer. 12.Question: Will the VA post the as-built drawings for the area of the building and surface work area where the rock is to be excavated?
