- This is an amendment to solicitation J3CTBLAOSMORU posted on 20 Oct 2015, Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract to the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) for Enhancement of Zoonotic Disease Outbreak Detection in Lao PDR. AMENDMENT 01 This is an amendment to solicitation J3CTBLAOSMORU posted on 20 Oct 2015, Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract to the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) for Enhancement of Zoonotic Disease Outbreak Detection in Lao PDR. This amendment adds the following: Requirement to support the melioidosis Research Coordination Network (RCN) through development of a strategic report to provide expertise for defining the risk, prevalence and current best practices for the prevention, detection and response to melioidosis. MORU has existing relationships with key melioidosis researchers and access to published and unpublished data on past and present melioidosis burden in Southeast Asia, including information on clinical diagnoses and culture-confirmed cases of melioidosis. Additionally, MORU has demonstrated experience and expertise conducting surveillance on the melioidosis disease landscape, with regards to the geographic areas where it has been found, international melioidosis events, and laboratory and clinical research publications. Moreover, MORU has extensive experience with information platforms and interactive research maps that will serve as the end-point for data collection and analysis. MORU has provided critical work in gathering key melioidosis data via information platforms in close partnership with other melioidosis researchers for over three years. MORU is approved to work within the key organizations which DTRA will engage with during its support of this effort. MORU has a demonstrated track record of success and expertise regarding zoonotic pathogen diagnostics and animal health biosafety in Lao PDR and is recognized as subject matter experts in Lao PDR. The period of performance for the RCN task is 18 months with an estimated value of $300,000.00. The total period of performance for the entire contract is 18 months with a total value of $900,000.00.
