Dam Crest Structure - Stampede Dam will be raised with two parallel mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls. The walls will be designed by the contractor within preset government parameters. This work will include excavating the existing dam and dike, foundation preparation, excavating/processing/hauling material from a borrow area, constructing the MSE walls, placing and compacting mechanically stabilized earth fill with soil reinforcement, installation of a drainage system, design and construction of a vehicular barrier and asphalt road work. 2. Spillway Construction - To accommodate the dam raise, the existing concrete spillway will be demolished and reconstructed. This work will include constructing an upstream earth-fill cofferdam, removing existing concrete and constructing complex reinforced cast-in-place concrete. 3. Construct Saddle Dikes - As part of the project, two small saddle dikes will be constructed. This work will include excavation, foundation preparation, furnishing and placing compacted embankment material and re-routing existing roads. 4. Fence Post Repair - This upcoming solicitation will also include replacing the chain link fencing and fence post along the spillway and outlet works at Stampede. This will include removing existing damaged or deteriorated concrete at existing embedded fence post locations, installing grouted anchor bars, placing concrete and installing new chain link fence with side mounted fence posts. 5. Other - Other major items of work included with this project are: tree clearing, construction of haul roads and use areas, constructing a two mile paved detour for public access to the reservoir, obtaining and implementing the 402 California Storm Water Construction General Permit, working within other various environmental work restrictions, and creating and implementing a restoration plan for all disturbed areas. The estimated cost of this project is more than $10,000,000. This procurement will require 100% performance and payment bonds. Questions concerning this solicitation should be directed to Matt Byrne via email at mbyrne@usbr.gov.
