Description
Repair and Rehabilitate Barn Ramps, TAPR THIS IS A PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE ONLY. The National Park Service, Midwest Region Major Acquisition Buying Office (MABO), intends to issue a solicitation for repair and rehabilitate historic barn ramps at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. The project is located at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, Chase County, Kansas. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve was created to preserve, protect and interpret for the public an example of a tallgrass prairie ecosystem, and to preserve and interpret for the public the historic and cultural values represented on the Spring Hill Ranch. The preserve consists mostly of high quality Flint Hills tallgrass prairie and localized historically significant ranch developments including the Spring Hill Ranch Headquarters, Deer Park Place, and the Lower Fox Creek Schoolhouse. One culturally defining feature of the preserve is the three story limestone barn. The barn is over 120 years old and is a significant contributing element of the Spring Hill Ranch National Historic Landmark. The project is intended to rehabilitate the wood and metal portions of the two existing barn ramps connecting to the third floor. The work includes: a. Demolition and recycling of existing wood decking members. b. Removing rust from existing steel beams and angle braces and applying coatings. c. Construction of timber deck with full dimension 3-inch by 12-inch and 2-inch by 10-inch pressure treated wood, totaling approximately 2,950 board-feet. d. Providing and installing new powder-coated steel edge rails, totaling approximately 160 lineal feet. e. Filling gap at concrete abutment with soil and topping with gravel. f. Protecting the natural and built resources at the site from damage. This procurement is 100% Small Business set-aside and is open to all responsible Small Business sources. Type of Contract: Firm Fixed Price NAICS: 236220 (Commercial and Institutional Building Construction)The small business standard is $36.5 M. In accordance with FAR 36.204(c) the Project Magnitude is between $100,000 and $250,000. One (1) firm-fixed price contract will be awarded on a best value basis. Required Bonds: The project is subject to the Davis-Bacon Act. Bonds will be required as follows: Bid Guarantee 20% of the contract price. Performance and Payment bonds - 100% of the contract price. Insurance will be required for this project. Contract Period of Performance: Estimated at 60 days SITE VISIT: Site Visit information will be in the posted solicitation. The Government will award one contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to the solicitation will be most advantageous to the Government, price and other factors considered. The solicitation documents will be issued on or about April 3, 2016 and will be posted on Federal Business Opportunities (https://www.fbo.gov/). This notice is for informational purposes only and is not a request for submission of offers. The Government is not obligated to issue a solicitation as a result of this notice. No other information is available until issuance of the solicitation.
